GP Summer Reading Challenge

Did you know that when a kid reads over the summer they are more likely to leap ahead when they return to school? Our school has made it a priority to keep our students’ skills sharp by encouraging them to read all summer long.

GP Motivation for current K-3rd students: Keep a Reading Log over the summer for the minutes spent on reading. You can keep track of this on a piece of paper. Everyone reading 800 minutes or more will earn a prize. All students that turn in a Reading Log will be recognized in Morning Assembly. Please turn your Reading Log to your teacher the first week of school.

As summer approaches, here are some great math websites, challenges, programs, etc. that will help your child to continue learning math over the summer.

Board Game Day-Monday, May 22nd

Each classroom will be designating a time for our students to play board games on Monday, May 22nd. Board games help teach our students skills such as communicating verbally, sharing, waiting, taking turns, and enjoying interaction with others. We are excited to provide a day where our children can learn to enjoy board games. Parents are welcome to send a board game with their students for Monday. Please do not send electronics as this is a day is designed to enjoy board games.

Summer Birthdays

On Fridays, we celebrate birthdays that have occurred for that week. With summer approaching, we want to make sure to include our June and July birthdays throughout the month of May. This will be our schedule in including them in with our May birthdays. We will celebrate all August birthdays next school year.

Friday, May 5th celebrating birthdays occurring: May 1st-7th and June 1-15th
Friday, May 12th celebrating birthdays occurring: May 8th-May 14th and June 16th-June 30th
Friday, May 19th celebrating birthdays occurring: May 15th-May 31st and July

****Note: Due to Kinder's Donuts for Dads event on Friday, May 12th and Kinder children with June 16th-June 30th will be announced on May 19th
